2-point control
With two-point control (also known as discrete or discontinuous control), there are two possible states, namely “on” and “off”. (more…)
Pump control systems for the water industry – Electrical engineering & I&C
With two-point control (also known as discrete or discontinuous control), there are two possible states, namely “on” and “off”. (more…)
A capacitive sensor is based on the principle that the electrical capacitance of a plate capacitor can be influenced in the following way: (more…)
Data logging refers to the process in which data is recorded and stored on a storage medium. (more…)
Direct start refers to the simple switching on of an electric motor that is connected directly to the mains.
Due to the fixed mains frequency, excessive currents of up to twenty times the rated current occur during start-up. In addition, the initial torque is very high, which leads to pressure surges in the system, e.g. with pump controls.
For this reason, depending on the supply area, there is a maximum permissible motor size that can be started directly.
An extension of the direct start is the so-called star-delta start-up.
The fill level control does not ensure a constant pressure, but a constant fill level. (more…)
Float switches consist of a floating body that is buoyed up by the liquid to be measured and triggers a switching operation due to the buoyancy force. (more…)
A frequency converter is a power converter that generates an output current with variable frequency and voltage from single-phase or multi-phase alternating current.

The PID controller uses three elements, the P element (proportional component), the I element (integral component) and the D element (differential component). (more…)
The hysteresis represents the range around the setpoint value by which the actual value is allowed to fluctuate so that the control is prevented from constantly switching on and off. (more…)
Level probes measure the hydrostatic pressure of the liquid column above them. (more…)
Multi-channel data loggers open up numerous application possibilities. They record the data from several measuring points at a central location and can store them. (more…)
With the resistance-dependent temperature sensors, an external voltage must be applied to determine a value. (more…)
PID control is used to adjust a controlled variable (e.g. pressure, temperature, frequency, etc.) to the setpoint. These PID controllers are of great importance for pump control, as they control the speed of the pump as an integrated component and thus enable automatic operation with all the resulting benefits.
This type of sensor uses the piezoelectric effect. If a piezoceramic material is deformed by pressure, an electrical voltage is generated above it due to charge displacement. (more…)
